What Went Through Your Mind When...

Interviewed: My grandfather, Ted.
1. What was it like when you turned on the news and saw 1,000 more soldiers dead in battle?
We needed to win, or get the hell out!
2. Did any of your buddies get drafted into the war? If so, how many Do of them came back?
Talked to some veterans of the war, but none of his close friends went there.
3. What did your kids think about the war? the kids of the neighborhood? the kids at the schools?
 Never heard anything about it.
4. Why do you think the US went into Vietnam?
At first, a just war. Later on, an unjust war. Too many lives lost.
5. How do you think the people of our nation in this day would respond if another "Vietnam" were to happen?
It depends on the political party, and the War in Iraq is another Vietnam.

The Truth About Media and Teenagers

http://bunow.bloomu.edu/3047-the-effects-of-reality-television-on-our-society

Yes, teenagers are influenced by the media. Because the media provides the push for teeagers to do things that they never would. Also they would give people that we look up to, so that once we see them doing something new and we like it we would also do it. Just like in the 1950's when we started buying things just because we saw an advertisment promosing it will get the job done.

Tradition of War

This is what the Gillis family was proud of. Members of their family have fought and died with honor in every war dating back to the 1800's. And every single one who served had their picture hung up on the wall in the Gillis household. They are proud of their ancestry and respected their relatives who courageously fought and defended this country. Captain Joseph died in the American Revolution, George Gillis died in the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War, Phillip Gillis died at the Battle of Wounded Knee, Tommy Gillis died in WWI, and most recently, the sole Gillis left, Willis, died in WWII. Although this family has sacrificed so much, they have contributed to what makes America the way it is today, freeing us from the British, fighting against slavery, and defending us from European turmoil and totalitarian governments. They fought for independence and democracy, everything that America stands for and the tradition of men in the Gillis family serving their country will continue for generations to come.

Vintage WWII US .30 Caliber M1 Carbine Ammunition Box

Now, this is a real treat for the eyes and the ears, so, pay close attention. *Reaches behind the desk and brings out a metal box* This, my good friends, is a Vintage WWII US .30 Caliber M1 Carbine Ammunition Box. This is the type of heavy duty ammunition carrier that was used for weapon drops that carried extra ammunition. Able to carry up to sixty 30 round clips, this ammunition box is the ultimate in ammunition carrying dependability. Now, think of yourself in war, with your M1 Carbine. You only have 7 bullets left in the magazine. Then, all of a sudden, you see a weapon drop! You run over to it, and get more ammunition. That senario I just explained was a real life thing in WWII.

To My Principal

Dear Dr. Rhinehart,
I do not get why us high schoolers have certain parts of our history hidden from us in school, when we are old enough to know how to handle it. You all say that our education is important, but to what extent? The Rape of Nanking is an atrocity that we just can't ignore like the Japanese. But, when you hide something like the Baton Death March, where our government surrendered the largest amount of troops to the enemy at the time and still today, that just is not acceptible. If you feel like I am wrong on any of this, please call me in your office and I'll tell you how I feel about this.
Sincerely,
       -Ian Campbell

The Braddock Maps of Fights

Should We Get Involved, When It's Not Us?

I think that America should get invovled in situations in other countries. If it were us, I hope other people would help us out in a time of need. That is what  these people are wanting, someone to watch their backs. As long as we don't hold their hand afterwards and they can make logical decisions, that is. If we play baby sitter, then we aren't doing our job of  "World Police."

Sacco and Vanzetti

Given the evidence, I would conclude that Sacco and Vanzetti are guilty not because of their political views, but because they were involved in some very serious stuff. Bombings, raids and conspiracies are few of the things their "friends" were involved in. They were just in the wrong places with the wrong people at the wrong time. Because of their political views, and the Red Scare, it might have expounded on the fact that they were suspicious looking and lied about knowing certain things, knowing certain people, and owning certain things. They were just doing what they thought was best for themselves, for they did not want to be deported. if they were deported, they wouldn't have been able to live the American Dream, and that would have been terrible. When one looks at the evidence, these were men that were just as scared as anyone put in the same situation.
Because of their political views, they had no chance to having normal lives, or so thought the American Government. When the bomb threats were made, and the friends were shown to the world as Anarchists, almost ruining their reputation to the world. as they grew closer to their political views, they grew closer to the friends in his political group, but they were sucked into a world of crime without even knowing. As the world tied a knot of contempt around their necks, they decided to get their lives into criminal acts. When they were taken to be executed, bombs were blown up in retaliation of these two men being wrongly accused of the charges they were being accused of. Today, the anniversary of their execution is still celebrated. They were wrongly accused, due to the lack of advances in crime fighting gear at the time, and the circumstances. If they had had a fairer trial, and they had been on trial at a later time frame, like in 2010/2011, they would have been shown as free men.

Alcatraz: Inescapable?

Alcatraz is a prison on a island that doubles as a mental asylem. The very fact that a prisoner sent there will be sharing space with the clinically insane just seems like a terrible thing to do to someone. Alcatraz was in the middle of one of the coldest lakes in the US, so, that is how it was literally inescapable. But, share part of your life with someone that is insane, and you might not be able to forget for a long time. and those are the only two reasons I can think of.

Organized Crime Review

What I learned is that organized crime back in the day helped found where the police force is today. Because of the escapes of mobsters through the unguarded back door, police have stepped it up a notch and decided to protect all entrances and exits. It has also caused many bad things in the world today, though. Criminals decide to try to be better than the gangsters of our past, or as I like to call them (as of now onward), "The Fore Fathers of Organized Crime." Because there are people that are much smarter than the gangsters of the past, we see crimes that should not be commited, but they are still being commited.

Acrostic Spontaneous

Politicians think they can
Reduce violence by
Outrageous demands to stop drinking?
Heck no!
I, for one, shall not
Be a law abiding citizen and remain
Indifferent about this situation.
They want our cooperation? They should stop being so
Ignorant and give us
Our alcohol back,
Now!

Reliving the past is boring,
Our future is certainly better,
And a woman's skirt will short,
Rendering us men in a hinder.
I speak for change,
Now that it is certain,
Going forward is strange,
Til you get used to your new image curtain.
While others stay in the past,
Everyone else is starting to change,
Now that times are moving fast,
Talk about them bootleggers?
Instead of being polite,
Even teenagers are misbehaving,
Sort of like they do not know wrong from right!

Roaring 20's Sentence

So, my dogs were hurting from work, because we work for pay that's like the Cat's Meow. So, here I am, walking down the street, when I see this bearcat. Now, she had some nice gams, and seemed like she just closed the bank on a drugstore cowboy that was hitting on her. Now, the place I work at requires its employees to where there glad rags, which is what I was wearing, and she was just the Bee's Knees, so, I had to ask her out. As I walked up, however, I saw a handcuff on her finger, and and everything didn't seem copacetic anymore. So, I kept on walking.

Declarations of War and A Response

After much analysis of the Wordles, I have come to the conclusion that the US was very angry at Germany, but Germany saw nothing wrong in what it was doing. The US want to get pay back at the Germans, who had been sinking ships with American citizens on board. They wanted to end the war, and end the loss of American lives and have peace reign over the world again. The Germans were shcked and outraged that the US would join the war. they thought that the US had nothing to do with afairs across seas, and should stay in the "American Peace" that we preached about. They made many more blockades, as well as toredoeing more ships going from America to its European Allies that needed help in the war effort.

OPERATION NIGHTHAWK: CLASSIFIED

************ DATA FILE RETRIEVAL: SUCCESS
************ DATA FILE READ ACCESS: GRANTED
*General Armstrong walks into the Command Center and waits for Delta Squad's progress update. The screen flashes on with a soldier, in urban clothing. His M16A4 was visible, showing many modifications for covert operations. Behind the man, six people were lying on the ground, hand cuffed, and two other men with M16A4's, each customized to show their strongest points, kept watch over the men on the ground. One other man was going through a computer, trying to find something from the hacked terminal. The man at the screen cleared his throat before proceeding.*
???: This is Delta Leader, do you read me, over?
Armstrong: This is General Armstrong, we read you loud and clear, Captain. Anything to report?
Delta Leader: We have secured the safe-house and hand cuffed all the insurgents, but we came across something else.
Armstrong: What did you and your team find, Captain?
Delta Leader: Sir, my Lieutenant found some materials used to make IED's. A substantial amount of supplies, to say at the very least. We think there is a bomb manufacturing plant somewhere within the area.
Armstrong: Any leads as to where that bomb plant is? The success of this operation relies on your team giving our troops in the area the upper hand in any way posible.
Delta Leader: We do not know as of yet, sir. But, we did listen in on two of the insurgents talking about it before we breached this room. They aren't the most helpful when we asked them questions, but I have a feeling that with a few minutes with them, we-
*Shouting could be heard outside the building. One of the men watching the prisoners went over to a window to take a look outside, out of the camera's view.*
Delta Leader: What is it, Four?
Delta 4: *Shouting* We got multiple Tangos walking towards the outskirts of town, at about 45 strong. A small group of 15 men is closing in on our position. I think we may be compromised.
Armstrong: Captain, I know that mistreating your prisoners will cause strain between Iraq and the US, but we are out of options. Interrogate them. I don't care how you do it, but get the location out of them. once you know the coordinates, get your men out of that building and destroy that bomb plant.
Delta Leader: Copy that, over and out.
*Disconnecting connection with Command, the Captain walked over to his Lieutenant, who was busy trying to crack the code to the computer terminal, and put his hand on his shoulder. The Lieutenant looks up, nods his head, and gets up from the chair. He moves over the the window opposite to where Delta 4 was at the door, and gets ready to leave. The Captain walks over to Delta 3, the one guarding the insurgents.*
Delta Leader: Time to go, Three. Look for a back door,  I'll interrogate these guys.
Delta 3: Yes, sir.
*Waiting for Three to leave, Delta 2, his Lieutenant, shouts to him.*
Delta 2: Sir, they have RPG's! We won't make it out through the front door this time!
Delta Leader: I copy. I'm going to have a little chat with these guys before we leave. Three is going to find a back door, so, I need you two watching those Tangos out there, understood?
Delta 2: Yes, sir!
Delta 4: Yes, sir!
*Smirking, the Captain looks over towards the prisoners and, knowing full well of the consequences, heads over to the prisoners. After beating them up a little, he pulls up a chair, sits one of them down, and cuffs his cuffs to the chair, as well as his feet.*
Delta Leader: Well, what are you waiting for? Chinease New Year? Tell us what we want to know, and you all will avoid a lot of pain.
